LAKE PLACID – Before you know it, school will be out for the summer. How about introducing the kids to a lifetime activity that’s accompanied by physical benefits?
The Whiteface Club and Resort, on the shores of Lake Placid lake and sister property to the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa, will offer a summer of junior tennis clinics, starting June 22. The sessions, run by skilled professionals, will be held each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday through August 24.
There will be two age groups of youngsters: ages 5-8 and 9-12 in these sessions.
“Our upcoming junior tennis clinics will be based on having fun in the sun, while teaching the kids skills that will have them progressing throughout the season,” said Ethan Weibrecht, Whiteface Club tennis director. “We not only want them to learn in a fun environment, but will help them make new friends as they enter a new sport.”
In addition to the instruction and newfound camaraderie, youngsters have the option to continue playing after the clinics.
“These new players can take what they’ve learned and stay longer, if they’d like,” added Weibrecht. “We encourage that. The extra time can really help the children advance their games quickly after the formal coaching, and it won’t cost anything additional.”
Clinics are priced at $16 per student, per session, or a 10-pack may be purchased for $140.
