SARANAC LAKE, N.Y. – The snowshoe elite are coming to the Adirondacks. Substantial snowfall in the Adirondacks over the past three weeks has enabled many winter sports enthusiasts to immerse themselves in recreational “crafts” such as snowshoeing.
LAKE PLACID – If you ever wondered how popular hiking is in the Lake Placid Adirondack region, just take a drive down Route 73 any weekend from this point forward in the season. Drive slowly because the word is out – these mountains have become a mecca for hiking.
One of the beauties of living and vacationing in Lake Placid is the ability to go touring. Without cars. The Lake Placid-North Elba Historical Society has a very thorough, entertaining and educational walking tour, while a similar bike route is being considered in and around the village.
