Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa collects the AAA Four Diamond Award for the 28th consecutive year
AAA executive makes presentation to Lake Placid’s only resort that combines Four Diamond lodging and dining
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – In an announcement Thursday in front of ownership, management and staff, James Phelps, President and CEO of AAA Northway, presented Ed and Lisa Weibrecht, owners of the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa, with the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award of Excellence.
It marked the 28th consecutive year the Lake Placid resort has received this honor. In addition, the resort’s The View Restaurant similarly achieved the Four Diamond designation for the fifth year in a row.
James Phelps, President and CEO of AAA Northway, made the presentations, and prefaced the event with an example of Mirror Lake Inn hospitality as he arrived.
“The young lady recognized me and said, ‘Hi, Mr. Phelps. Welcome back.’ It’s little things like that which speaks to the level of service that the Four Diamond Award is all about,” said Phelps.
He added that less than five percent of the 31,000 AAA-rated lodges achieve the Four Diamond distinction, only 95 properties hold the Four Diamond honor for more than 25 years, and fewer than three percent of its 28,000 AAA-rated restaurants stand out with Four Diamonds.
“The Mirror Lake Inn has reached a milestone of excellence very few properties have achieved,” continued Phelps. “This is a testament to the owners and all that the staff does for the guests. To achieve and maintain this level of hospitality is a significant accomplishment. It acknowledges the hard work and dedication of the staff.
“AAA is pleased to present the Mirror Lake Inn and The View Restaurant with these Four Diamond Awards.”
Outside of New York City, the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa holds this AAA honor longer than any other lodging property in New York State. Including New York City, the Mirror Lake Inn’s streak of 28 straight years puts it second in the state only to The Carlyle, a Rosewood Hotel, in Manhattan.
“The Mirror Lake Inn is a beautiful property in a beautiful location, but it’s our staff that makes it special and makes a difference with our guests,” said owner Ed Weibrecht. “I could not be prouder of the care and effort each employee extends to our guests. They make the Mirror Lake Inn feel like home for our guests, not just a hotel.”
As a final caveat to Thursday’s presentation, the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa stands as the only Lake Placid Four Diamond property, which overlooks Mirror Lake, offering Four Diamond dining to complement its lodging.
“This is certainly a great honor for us, and we are working hard for more,” said The View Restaurant Executive Chef Jarrad Lang, who has led the Four Diamond effort the past four years. “The key for our restaurant team is our attention to detail and the drive to keep improving. We are looking for better ways to do things. One of our favorite quotes is, ‘If it’s good enough, it’s not good enough.’”
In addition to upscale lodging and dining, the hotel also offers a world-class spa experience from manicures and pedicures to its signature spa treatments and complete salon services.
Just across the street from the hotel’s front door, the popular Cottage Café welcomes visitors and locals with serene indoor and outdoor experiences overhanging Mirror Lake, year-round. The Cottage Café offers an outstanding pub menu, everyone’s favorite drinks, and live weekend entertainment.
