Join us April 19 to 22, 2012 as food and wine enthusiasts unite at the 7th-annual Adirondack Festival of Food and Wine. This year's theme will be "The Culinary Melting Pot of Taste." Fittingly taking place in Lake Placid, a town that has long been an international stage, the Adirondack Festival of Food and Wine is both fun and educational.
Book our popular Festival of Food and Wine package for the 7th-annual Lake Placid event and you'll enjoy a plethora of wine tastings, seminars, interactive food demonstrations and tastings, a grand tasting reception, a seven-course dinner and admission to a cooking competition.
Influenced and shaped by various cultures from around the globe, American cuisine is a unique melting pot of tastes. This year's festival will focus on how these basic elements of taste influence the way we eat and drink. The five elements of taste are: salty, sour, sweet, bitter and umami, which is an earthy, savory taste.
Experience incredible flavor profiles as guest chefs fuse international delicacies with locally-grown Adirondack meats and cheeses – all with a touch of Four-Diamond class in the Inn's Adirondack-themed private dining room.
If you're looking to hone your own skills in the kitchen, you'll be able to gain some great cooking tips from the many cooking demonstrations and seminars the festival has to offer.
Festival highlights include:
- An opening reception featuring: guest mixologists and theatrics with cocktails, an ice bar from Grey Goose and a wine bar.
- Guest Chef cooking demonstrations, wine seminars and tastings.
- The Ready-Set-Cook! Competition which pits the Inn's culinary team against the talents of guest chefs.
- A seven-course dinner paired with wines prepared by guest chefs, the Inn's culinary team and our guest sommelier.
- A farewell brunch and tasting featuring live jazz music.
Chefs will offer expertise from world-class institutions such as the New England Culinary Institute, Culinary Institute of America and the Research Chefs Association. A master sommelier, brew master, gardener, baker and chef will all be presenting at this year's event.
We hope to see you there!
