Opening Night
Thursday, April, 22
A Night at the Bistro: 6:00pm - 7:30pm
Join us in our warm and cozy bistro for a wonderful start to your food and wine weekend.
- Sample unique wine pairings chosen by our in-house sommelier, Barry. All wines will be of an organic or sustainable nature.
- Taste a variety of small plate dishes that will delight and inspire you at our Tapas station
- Enjoy specially chosen local and Vermont cheeses with homemade bread and seasonal fruit.
Library tasting* with Opus One: 7:30pm
Location: The Wikoff Room
Our library tasting will be lead by the Opus One Eastern Division Manager, J. France Posener, and feature five different hand-selected vintages of Opus One to taste and discuss. The group will taste Opus One 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and a surprise vintage from the winery.
*This tasting is limited to 40 guests and has an additional fee of $75 per person.

Friday, April 23
Hearty Adirondack Breakfast: 7:30am - 10:00am
- A gourmet breakfast at your leisure
Interactive Food Demonstrations: 2:00pm to 4:00pm
Enjoy up-close-and-personal experiences with our visiting chefs.
Topics include:
- Sustainable Practices with Food - Learn about ingredients that are over-fished or manipulated, leading to reduction and possible extinction
- Farm-to-Table Initiatives - Discuss alternate approaches by using local, regional and seasonal ingredients. Show how to plan menus around seasonal ingredients
- Extending the Season - Learn techniques for canning, curing and drying.
Wine Glass Seminar by Reidel: 4:30pm - 5:30pm
- Did you know that wine tastes different from glass to glass? A representative from the world-renowned glass maker, Reidel, will be hosting this amazing wine tasting seminar.
Grand Tasting: From Bubbles to Bordeaux: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
- Enjoy an incredible panorama of 50+ wines. Wines will be laid out in a palate-pleasing fashion offering a logical progression from soft to bold. Start with our bubbly wines and travel through light whites, medium whites, sweeter wines, dessert wines, light reds, medium reds and powerhouse reds.
- Each wine station will feature specially chosen foods that highlight the theory and wonderful tastes behind good food & wine pairings.
- Lake Placid's own P3 Vodka and Lake Placid Pub and Brewery will be on hand pouring their popular local libations.
- Enjoy signature drinks from the Inn's bartenders at The Cottage and Taste Bistro

Saturday, April 24

Hosted by: Guest Chef, Sarah Langan, Senior Chef Instructor at The New England Culinary Institute.
- Taste and Flavor - Explore how the palate works and how to blend flavors and textures to create a better experience. This was last year's most popular demonstration.
- The Holy Trinity of Food - Wine, Bread and Cheese
These three things are fermented, living and change with time, and yes you can live on these three things alone!
Lunch: 12:00-1:30 pm: Lunch on your own, at your leisure. The Cottage is open
Wine Seminar: 1:30pm to 2:30pm
The Evolution of the Super Tuscan
- Hosted by Massimiliaono Galvano, Italian Wine Director,
- Featuring Crognello, Oreno, Tassinaia, Guado Alberto and Sassicaia
Behind the Revolving Door, The "Inside" Tour: 3:00pm - 4:00pm
- Experience a rare, behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of a seven-course dinner at our AAA Four Diamond restaurant, The View.
- Guests will head into our kitchen to see what really happens behind the scenes during the process of preparing, cooking and plating gourmet food for large groups - including the amazing skill behind ice-carving.
- End the tour with a Cocktail Showdown between Taste's and The Cottage's top mixologists at Taste Bistro.
Ready - Set - Cook: 4:00pm - 5:30pm
- A competitive cook-off between the Inn's culinary team and the guest chefs. One guest from the audience will be chosen to assist each team.
- Each team will be given the secret ingredients to work with and have just one hour to work their magic. You not only enjoy the end result, but also help to declare the winner. Always a lively event!
