Or try fly-fishing for the wild brown trout on the legendary West Branch of the Ausable River, minutes from the Inn. Whatever you skill level or fishing interest, our concierge can point you toward a good spot to wet a line.

Lake Placid Village is a fun place for shopping, with unique shops offering something different than the typical chain store experience. Local artists and craftsmen show their work in numerous locations. Particularly popular are "lodge" style furnishings and Adirondack "stick furniture" that have been a hallmark of the region for over a century.
Shipman Youth Center Skate Park
The Shipman Youth Center is located directly behind the Olympic Center on Cummings Road. The Skate Park was established in 2007 and it is FREE to the public. A liability waiver must be signed by a parent/guardian or skater who is over the age of 18 and on file to skate. Hours of operation vary and are weather dependant. Phone number: 518-523-8786

All classes and Outdoor Adventure Programs (Adult and Children) are not scheduled on a weekly basis. Please call the Front Desk, (518) 523-2544, for a monthly schedule.
Yoga
INVIGORATE! Yoga invigorates and loosens stiff muscles as well as relaxing and calming the mind. Class is customized to accommodate participants' needs. Beginners are most welcome. 2 Person Minimum Due to the nature of the yoga class, we would kindly suggest that you sign up for the class prior to 8:30am so as not to disturb a class in session. Your consideration is greatly appreciated. Mature children are more than welcome!
Family Wilderness Canoe Trip
The family will spend a quiet morning canoeing a pristine stillwater river. Everyone will be absorbed in observing osprey flying above, an unsuspecting leopard frog sunning himself, or a beaver swimming nearby. The fun and rewarding family experience is highlighted by the reflection of the blue sky on the water, colorful wildflowers, and conifer trees allowing imaginations to soar. Minimum Age: 5 years old
Sunset Cruise
Come aboard the "Jo" an 18-foot open bow pleasure boat for a relaxing cruise around Lake Placid. View the shoreline as well as beautiful Whiteface Mountain. Minimum Age: 5 years old. Minimum 2 people, maximum 6 people
Kayak Touring
Explore the remote Middle Saranac Lake with its beautiful shore lines, islands and scenic views of the High Peaks. There is also an opportunity to see a Bald Eagle, Great Blue Herons, Ospreys, Loons and the possibility of otters. Learn the skill of kayaking and discover nature beauty from arms length. The trip includes equipment and instruction. All participants should be skilled in swimming. Minimum Age: 12 years old.
Sunset Kayak Tour
The trip begins on Lake Placid in Paradox Bay with kayak instruction, then venture out along the Brewster Peninsula shoreline to view some of the Adirondack Camps and scenic Whiteface Mountain and out to Sunset Straight and watch the sun set behind the mountains. The trip includes equipment and instruction. Minimum Age: 12 years old.
Family Fishing Trip
A secret fishing hole, filled with trout, bass, northern pike, and splake surrounded by mountains that reach to the sky, is waiting to thrill a family setting out to experience the fun of casting for fish on a summer morning. Minimum Age: 5 years old
Pond Fishing
For a true wilderness experience, explore remote pond fishing from canoes for native brook trout, bass or pike. Opportunities to view wildlife and enjoy a peaceful scenic setting. Cost includes guide, fishing gear, canoe, transportation and lunch on a full day trip. (Maximum 5 people) New York State Fishing License required. Charter Boat Fishing
Venture out on an 18' fishing boat equipped with auto pilot trolling motor, down riggers, planner boards, and fish finder to fish for bass, pike, trout and salmon. A licensed and experienced guide will lead you to the most productive waters for an enjoyable fishing experience. (Maximum 5 people) Fishing gear included. Fly Fishing
Learn about the waters and fish native to the Adirondacks while attending instructional clinics and guided stream trips geared for all abilities. Travel to secret fishing holes and skills learned will increase your chances of hook up with trophy fish. The trip includes fly fishing equipment and waders. Guide ratio is 1:3. Power Hike
A great way to start the day by taking a fast paced hike through rolling forested trails. You will take in the sights and fresh air of the great outdoors while getting some exercise. It is recommended that the participants are in good physical condition and are adequately dressed for a morning hike in the Adirondacks.
Nature Walkabout
This fun filled hike will lend enjoyment to the entire family while trail walking over easy rolling terrain through beautiful conifer and endless hardwood forest along the famous Chubb River. The half day adventure continues when the family teams up to discover fresh wildlife tracks and learns from an experienced guide proper identification through Native American folklore storytelling. Minimum Age: 10 years old.
Pitchoff Mountain Adventure
Join us for a climb up Pitchoff Mountain (3600') to balanced rocks, which will provide a climb with views that are spectacular. Truly a unique and interesting outing. The round trip is 3.1 miles with an 882 elevation gain. The trail is a mix of steep climbing with easier grades in between. Minimum Age: 12 years old
High Peaks Mountain Adventure for Families with Teens
Take a hike designed for families with teens who seek a unique adventure spending a few hours together passing by boulders older than time and listening to the sounds of nature and the rush of a babbling brook working up to a breathtakingly scenic view on the summit of one of the most spectacular Adirondack High Peaks. Each family member will experience the joy of sharing the outing and return home with a volume of rich Adirondack memories. The hike contains a mixture of steep climbing interspersed with easier grades. A half day invigorating hike that takes approximately 3 hours. Minimum Age: 13 years old
Evening Hike
Hike up Cobble Hill and watch a beautiful sunset as you listen to your guide tell Native American animal stories in the oral tradition. Great fun for the whole family. The hike is a short distance with moderate to steep hiking. Minimum age 8.

Animal Tracking Adventure
Half-day program designed specifically for the child to view tracks of wildlife native to the Adirondacks and interpret their message. Age: 6 and above.
Canoe and Water Fun Adventure
A half-day trip includes complete instruction about equipment, canoe strokes and safe navigation. The children will then paddle around beautiful Mirror Lake. The cost includes equipment and guide. Ages: 10 years old and above.
Young Adirondack Adventurer
Explore the history and culture of the Adirondacks through song, dance and art. The program is designed for children between the ages of 6-12 and is held in a supervised setting on the property.

Let Us Pack Your Lunch
Add the finishing touch to your Adirondack Outing by including a pre-ordered lunch. All box lunches (call Ext 505) and the Gourmet Picnic for Two (Call Ext. 140) must by placed by 8:00PM the previous day
Boater's / Hiker's Lunch
(For 1 Person) One Sandwich (Ham, Turkey, Roast Beef or Cheese), Fresh Fruit, Pickle, Potato Chips, Condiments, Cookies and a beverage.
Gourmet Picnic for Two
Picnic Basket of French Bread, Imported Brie, Jarlsberg Cheese and New York Cheddar served with a Whole-Grain Mustard, Sliced Tenderloin of Beef with a Horseradish Sauce, Shrimp Cocktail with Traditional Cocktail Sauce, Crudites of Vegetables with Dipping Sauce and Fresh Fruit. Basket deposit, refundable upon return.
