Mirror Lake Inn takes bronze medal in USA Today poll

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – In early July, Lake Placid’s Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa was notified by travel editors from USA Today that it is one of the 20 best waterfront properties in the country. From the initial editor’s list, a reader’s poll would determine the USA Today 10Best in that category.

Thanks to strong support from its guests and followers, the only AAA Four Diamond lodging and dining property in the Adirondacks collected a bronze medal, finishing third among the national paper’s 10Best waterfront resorts in the USA.

Rugby, lacrosse tournaments coming to the area

LAKE PLACID – The sports of rugby and lacrosse are set to bring their annual tournaments to the Adirondack region.

Four teams started the rugby affair in Saranac Lake in 1974, and each year it doubled until reaching 100 teams. The expansion essentially forced games to be played in Lake Placid as the host community ran out of fields. Seven pitches are used in Saranac Lake and six in Lake Placid.

Meet Adirondack guide Gary Marchuk


“The trips we do here bring them back and we get long term relationships. That’s the passion of what I do,” remarked Adirondack guide Gary Marchuk. “It’s better than the monetary reward. My payback is to be outside and introduce people to this.”
