We are just about ready to turn the corner into June and the official start of the summer season in Lake Placid.
An important part of that menu over the next three months is the schedule of musical entertainment in Mid’s Park on Main Street. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs, and enjoy the complimentary sounds.
Set on the shore of Mirror Lake, Mid’s Park has undergone a radical update to critical acclaim. The final piece of that renovation is new and bigger band shell. It’s been slightly relocated, and stands to be a true enhancement to a venue that was developed by Mother Nature, creative local leaders and generous financial support lead by the Uihlein Foundation.
On Tuesday nights starting July 1, The Pines Inn of Lake Placid presents Songs at Mirror Lake. It’s an eclectic seven-week series that presents different genres of music. Showtime is 7:00. Funk, raggae and Adirondack fusion are just a few of the sounds in this summer’s lineup.
The Lake Placid Sinfonietta, takes to the Paul White Memorial Shell on Wednesdays, also at 7 PM, beginning July 9. However, there will be a special July 4 holiday performance of titled “Across the Fruited Plains” after the village parade. Thereafter, the Wednesday night schedule takes hold on July 9, concluding Aug. 6. In that time, patrons will enjoy a variety of pops and big band presentations by talented musicians, under the baton of Music Director Ron Spigelman, who make Lake Placid and the Adirondacks their summer home.
Mid’s Park is just a five minute walk from the Mirror Lake Inn’s front steps. We encourage our guests to partake of these Tuesday and Wednesday night offerings, either before or after dinner.
