LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (July 10, 2017) – For the 18th year in row, The View Restaurant at the historic Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa, has been honored for its outstanding wine program in Wine Spectator’s 2017 Restaurant Awards. “The View” is Lake Placid’s only AAA Four Diamond “Exceptional” restaurant, and is recognized among other winners from all over the globe as a top destination for wine lovers.

“Restaurants continue to raise their game when it comes to wine, and we are particularly proud to present this year’s winners,” said Marvin R. Wine Spectator congratulates each and every award winner.

“We are very happy to receive this distinction once again, and thank Wine Spectator for including The View Restaurant,” said Justin Peregoy, Wine Director and Sommelier. “We are continuously expanding our wine selection in terms of representing more regions of the world, and are placing an increased emphasis on staff wine training to further assist our guests in reaching new heights of elegance during their dining experience at Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa.”

The View Restaurant in Lake Placid gets 18th consecutive Wine Spectator Award

Wine Spectator began its program to recognize the world’s best wine lists in 1981. There are three levels: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Award—with 2,335; 1,168; and 89 winners this year in each respective category. Five of the Grand Award winners are first timers.

The View Restaurant has won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, which recognizes restaurants whose wine lists feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers, along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style.

The View’s upscale menu is enhanced with 485 wine selections, valued at more than $400,000.

The complete list of award winners is available in print in Wine Spectator’s August issue, on newsstands July 18, and online at Restaurants.WineSpectator.com, where visitors can search and access exclusive content on the more than 3,500 restaurants. The full list is also available for free on iOS via the Restaurant Awards app, which allows users to look for dining spots in any location with maps, choosing by wine strengths, cuisine type, pricing and more.

The View Restaurant has been AAA Four Diamond designated for the past 10 years, while the Mirror Lake Inn has held the same distinction for 33 consecutive years, second longest in all of New York State.
