After careful thought and consideration, the Mirror Lake Inn, Lake Placid's only AAA Four-Diamond lodging and dining establishment, has opened its blog page.

This will be a good stop for information that pertains to guests, potential guests, area residents, and anyone with interest in our resort experience and all that surrounds it. We'll do our best to make this a very newsworthy place for you to visit frequently.

For instance, the top winter events for 2012-2013 have just been announced. You may want to consider a stay with us around the following:

--Nov. 5-10: World Cup Bobsled/Skeleton

--Jan. 14-19: World Cup Freestyle Skiing

--Feb. 3-9: World Cup Luge

Other activities of interest will be announced later.

Also, the readers of SnowEast Magazine have named Whiteface Mountain its second favorite ski and ride area in the east; they said Whiteface is best for mountain views; and they voted Lake Placid as their favorite ski village destination. Approximately 6,000 participated in that poll.

In October, SKI Magazine will release its annual resort survey and we'll tell you about that in the fall. Typically, the Whiteface/Lake Placid region has fared quite well over the years with SKI's readers.
