Weibrecht, one of the Adirondack's favorite sons, posts from ski camp in CO11/06/2012 From time to time, Andrew Weibrecht, 2010 Olympic bronze medalist in Super G and son of MLI Resort and Spa owners Ed and Lisa Weibrecht, will update us on his ski racing adventures. Currently, Andrew, who grew up skiing Whiteface Mountain with his brothers and training at NYSEF, is prepping for the World Cup season which begins later this month.
Whiteface started making snow today (Nov. 6) on Lower Valley and Fox (ORDA Photo) Here is Andrew's latest (today) from Copper Mountain, Colo. "The (Copper Mt) camp has been great. We skied the first three days at Loveland doing some GS and just getting the feet back under us. Copper opened for training on the 1st of Nov so we started there with three days of DH and finished with a day of SG. "The snow surface has been great. They did a lot of work to the hill this summer; shaped the terrain a little bit, took out a good number of trees and added a good bit more A-Net. The whole track hasn't been open since we've been there but the improvements that they made have really opened up the options for the hill giving us more options for sets particularly on the DH side. Right now we're in Park City (Utah) taking a couple days off out of the altitude to recover well, and then we head back over on Thursday for the final push before Lake Louise. "Copper is hosting 2 DH races and 2 SG races on Nov. 15-16 so we'll have a chance to work out the race kinks before we head up north for the real deal."
