Andrew Weibrecht is now headed home to Lake Placid. On Sunday, he will exchange vows with Denja Rand at the Whiteface Club and Resort.
Denja is wrapping up another week at grad school at SUNY Potsdam before the big event.
Andrew dropped us a note last night as he was preparing to depart a U.S. Ski Team camp in Chile. Next stop: Lake Placid.
"The camp has been great. We've been primarily doing work on glide turns (i.e., flats to moderate terrain), which is the weaker side of my skiing skills. I feel like i've made a lot of progress in these areas and am ready to move onto our next more technical camp in Portillo (Chile)."
"As a group we have been testing a lot of new equipment because there was a total ski regulation change starting this past spring. So every company is basically starting over with their race lines. Everything seems to be coming together well. Rossignol has done a great job jump-starting their program and it's been a lot of fun getting on the new stuff."
"I am heading home tomorrow (Thursday) a day earlier than scheduled because I've got to get back for the wedding. My fiancee and mother thought that 24 hours was not enough wiggle room in case planes are delayed."
"I'm really psyched for this weekend. It should be a great time. We have a lot of friends and family coming in and I'm getting married to a great girl so i'm totally looking forward to it all."
