Shed a layer this weekend in the Adirondacks01/11/2013 After several weeks of wintry weather with lots of snow, we're getting a break in the action as temps this weekend will be in the low 40s. Friday afternoon temperatures in Lake Placid are around 35 degrees. But we have plenty of snow and ice to withstand this blip in the radar. And besides, this will give our visitors a chance to wear some different clothing. Best part of all is that the temperatures into next week will drop gradually. This is a good thing and will prevent the formation of bullet-proof conditions. With snowmaking and grooming at night, the ski and ride conditions at Whiteface Mt will be nice....probably a bit on the packed powder/machine-groomed/granular side. In the meantime, other outdoor activities are unaffected thanks to all the snow and cold weather that hit us in recent weeks. We have the base to withstand these few days. As a for instance, your blogger spent yesterday afternoon on Mirror Lake in Lake Placid with a dog team. Here's a little video clip for your enjoyment. Enjoy the great outdoors!!
