One of the Adirondack's finest, Cora Clark, wins MLI Spa's ReNew You contest

The grand winner is Cora Clark of Lake Placid.

An R.N., Cora was the top vote-getter from 42 nominees. A total of 349 votes were cast.

When asked what it would mean to her if she won the contest she said, "I would be flattered."

"Cora was very excited to find out, and surprised," said Spa manager Annie Brucker. "You might even say overwhelmed."

Cora, known for her spirit of volunteerism, serves as Lake Placid's school nurse. She will be treated to six spa treatments including, a body treatment, spray tan by SunGlow Spray Tan, complete re-style of the hair complete with color, cut and blowstyle, eyebrow shaping, makeup application, and manicure with a paraffin dip.

Five of her closest friends will celebrate the "New You" and receive specially priced spa services, hors d'ouevres, a cocktail hour, and champagne toast with the winner.

The Renew You Contest was created to reward a deserving woman from the North Country who is always doing things for others and never has time for themselves.

"This contest was started to honor someone in the community and we find, in turn, we were honored hearing their amazing stories and being able to host them at The Spa," said Annie. 

Cora Clark is a mother of two and a "mom" to the students and staff at Lake Placid High School. In addition to being an R.N., she is a part time staff member in the ER for Adirondack Medical Center and works at Whiteface Mountain and the Olympic Center whenever needed.

She is the captain of the Ironman Medical tent and has been known to work 21 hours on Ironman day followed by hosting Ironman athletes that night.

Cora is a volunteer for the Medical Coverage Reserve Corp., an organization set up to give vaccinations and medicine in the case of a disease outbreak. Cora is a member of many organizations which are centered on helping people and being involved in her community.

Cora said she absolutely loves her job; she loves helping people and meeting people.

Clark attributes her giving personality to her parents. The oldest of eight children, Cora grew up seeing her parents help people all the time.

"It came naturally because it was something my parents always did and didn't think twice about."

She recently lost her father, Matt, who Cora saw as a great example of living the principle of helping those who are less fortunate.

She said most of all it makes her so happy to know the nomination came from her daughter. Cora has worked hard to be a great mom and it's so nice to hear her daughter think so highly of her.
