Essex County Closes Emergency Operations
Center
Lewis, N.Y. - After a quiet rainy night in the North
Country officials find the predicted risk of severe weather related to Sandy to
be over.
Essex County Emergency Operations Center (EOC), opened on
Monday, is closed as of noon on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. Housed with County
and State agencies the EOC offered a coordinated approach to the predicted
emergency associated with Sandy.
"We find ourselves in a very
fortunate position given the power outages and road closures we anticipated and
the impact of the storm on other areas of New York State and neighboring
states," said Director of Emergency Services, Don Jaquish.
At an 8:00 AM
morning meeting today EOC Manager, Patty Bashaw expressed appreciation to the
team in the EOC room. "This was not a wasted effort. Our response to Sandy
allowed us to mobilize as trained and practice for future inevitable
emergencies," she said.
