- What time is check-in and check out?
Your guest room is guaranteed to be ready for check in at 3pm. Check out is at 11am.
- What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, New York State checks and traveler's checks. We do require a credit card upon check in for any incidental charges during your stay. Please contact our reservations department for special arrangements. We require a two night deposit in order to book any room reservation.
- Is it appropriate for my children to dine in The View?
We offer Early Family Dining for parents and children to enjoy dinner together at 5:30pm. For each adult dining with us, one child dines for free. This is an especially good option for families who wish to enjoy the experience of dining together in The View, but would like the service and pace to reflect the attention span of their children.
- How long in advance should I schedule dinner or spa reservations?
We suggest that dinner reservations and spa appointments be arranged at least two weeks prior to your arrival. During our peak holiday times, we encourage guests to make arrangements earlier. The Spa can schedule appointments up to one year in advance. The View accepts reservations also up to one year in advance. Taste Bistro & Bar has a casual environment and seating is first come, first served. Taste does not accept reservations.
If you would prefer to dine with your family at other hours and feel confident that your children are well behaved, we certainly would be glad to have you as our guest. Please call to speak with our restaurant staff so that they can best accommodate you and your family.
- Is there a dress code in The View?
We request that guests wear neat casual attire in The View. For men, this means collared shirts and slacks. We also ask that guests refrain from wearing sweatpants, sweatshirts and t-shirts. Dress jeans are acceptable.
- Is there a refrigerator in the room? What amenities will be in my guest room?
Yes. All guest rooms have refrigerators, a flat screen or LCD screen TV, large bath linens, hair dryers, plush robes, a safe, remote color cable television, iron and ironing board, AM/FM clock radio with CD player, DVD Players, special soaps and shampoos and magnifying makeup mirrors. Wireless internet is available in each room for an additional fee.
- Do you offer high-speed internet access?
We have high speed wireless internet access available for a nominal fee.
- Do you have any smoking accommodations?
The Mirror Lake Inn is an entirely non-smoking facility.

- What should I bring to wear?
That all depends on when you will be visiting. The Adirondack Region is one of the most difficult places to predict the weather, so being prepared for a variety of conditions is always prudent. In the summer months low humidity and warm temperatures make daytime pleasant and perfect for shorts and sundresses. Nighttime temperatures can dip to about twenty degrees cooler, which makes for perfect sleeping weather. Of course the Inn is air-conditioned. Be sure to bring a sweater or light jacket during these times, the temperature can change quite quickly under the clear Adirondack skies.
In winter, layers are best. Be sure to keep in mind that Lake Placid has great shopping!
- Are bathrobes permitted in the lobby?
The atmosphere of the Inn is one of the high points of your stay. It is relaxed and friendly, in the true style of Adirondack hospitality. All of our furnishings have been hand selected so as to add to this atmosphere. We kindly request that guests do not wear bathrobes or bathing suits in the living room and that guests who have enjoyed a workout in our fitness center please change clothes prior to joining us for afternoon tea.
- Do you allow pets?
Unfortunately, due to a number of reasons, including guest allergies, we do not allow pets of any type at the Inn. Please ask us about the nearest boarding facility. A cleaning fee of $200 will be added to your guest folio for a violation of this policy.
- Do you have a fitness room?
We offer complimentary use of our fitness room which includes elliptical trainers, treadmills, stair climbers, life cycle weight trainers, free weights, bosu balls, and rowing machine.
- Do you offer golf?
Our sister property, the Whiteface Club & Resort has been ranked #6 in New York State by Golf Weekly. You can experience the beauty and challenge of one of this Country's oldest golf courses, steeped in over 100 years of rich history. With the Adirondack Mountains and pristine Lake Placid as its backdrop, the artistically designed course offers novices and pros alike a rewarding day.

- Do you offer tennis instruction?
Our sister property the Whiteface Club and Resort offers a comprehensive instruction program with experienced teaching professionals, We have a full line-up of children and adult clinics, leagues and tournaments, mixed double socials, and a player network program.
- Do you have boat rentals?
We offer complimentary rowboats, paddleboats, kayaks and canoes. Boat rentals are also available at our sister property The Whiteface Club and Resort on Lake Placid for a nominal fee.
- How far is Whiteface Mountain?
Whiteface Mountain is 9 miles from the town of Lake Placid, where the Mirror Lake Inn is located. It takes approximately 15-20 minutes to reach Whiteface Mountain from the Mirror Lake Inn. Please ask us for the "insider" directions from the Inn.
- Is there transportation to Whiteface? Will I need a car?
If you have the ability to bring your car or to rent a car, it will certainly make your transportation to Whiteface Mountain, the Olympic Venues and all that this region has to offer much more convenient. There is a shuttle to Whiteface Mountain in the winter months and the Mirror Lake Inn is the first stop on the route. To drive in your personal vehicle to Whiteface Mountain will take approximately 15-20 minutes. The shuttle ride is approximately one hour and ten minutes. In the summer months, the Lake Placid Trolley coasts through town. From the Mirror Lake Inn it is about a one block walk to the village shops along peaceful Mirror Lake.
- Can I go Cross-Country Skiing?
There are Cross-Country Ski Trails at our sister property, The Whiteface Club and Resort. Fifteen kilometers of professionally groomed, track-set cross-country trails suitable for the beginner as well as the advanced skier await you there.

- Do you have Ice Skating Rentals?
Our concierge staff will be happy to assist you with ice skate rentals needs.
- Do you have programs for weddings?
The Mirror Lake Inn Resort & Spa can help you plan your destination wedding along with our sister property, the Whiteface Club and Resort. The Mirror Lake Inn is the perfect spot for your Rehearsal Dinner, and guest accommodations. To preserve the genteel ambiance of the Inn, all weddings are hosted at the Whiteface Club and Resort.
The Whiteface Club and Resort is proud to offer some of the most beautiful sites in the state of New York. Their scenic waterfront on Lake Placid with Whiteface Mountain in the background is the perfect location to celebrate your wedding or special event. Nestled on the waterfront, the Moose Lodge Boathouse and Adirondack Wedding Garden allows the nature lover the opportunity to stop and smell the roses while enjoying a distinctively designed cocktail, al fresco dining or exchanging of their loved ones vows. The Adirondack Dining Room, with its majestic fireplace, deck, veranda and spectacular mountain views is an excellent location for a wedding reception. The professional event staff will also help you plan all of the details of your special day, from linens to party tents and floral arrangements.
