Mirror Lake
The village of Lake Placid overlooks beautiful Mirror Lake which often resembles its namesake: a mirror. There are no motorized boats allowed on Mirror Lake so it is incredibly clean and very quiet. Often you'll find Loons on the lake and it is great for swimming, kayaking, paddle-boating, canoeing and fishing. We offer complimentary boats at our private beach. In the winter months we have a private ice skating rink, so bring your skates. Nearby, Dog Sled Rides are offered on frozen Mirror Lake.
Walk of 2.7 miles
Enjoy a walk of 2.7 miles around Mirror Lake any time of year. Along the way you will have an opportunity to view some of the beautiful homes located along the lake. Take a moment to glance down at the cobble stone sidewalk as you go and you will find the names and elevations of The 46 High Peaks of the Adirondacks carved into beautiful granite. You'll also pass the Toboggan Chute, a popular winter sport open to the public. Ride a 3' toboggan sled down the chute onto the ice of Mirror Lake. The public beach that you will pass is also the start location of the USA Ironman Triathlon Swim that takes place in July of 2000 athletes. Pass by unique, quaint shops on the village Main Street and The Cottage, which is a great stop for lunch, supper or cocktails on the lake.
